The Council Requested to Strictly Prosecute Public Facility Destroyers

Jakarta Provincial Government is urged to strictly prosecute vandals and park bench thief in the city. Strict action is needed to make deterrent effect for the suspects.

"There must be strict sanction for facilities destroyers. If they left without any sanction, it will be possible if all park benches in Jakarta disappeared stolen by thief," Syahrial said, Member of Commission D of Jakarta Regional Council, Tuesday (4/15).

Syahrial added, the city government should provide tight supervise to all parks and other public facilities. All Personnel of Jakarta Civil Service Police Unit must be proactive to guard public infrastructure. "Why certain people are still stealing or destroying our public facilities," he added.

550 Special Police Personnel to Guard City Parks

Besides of Public Order Agency (Satpol PP), Syahrial invited all citizens in Jakarta to maintain city parks together. "The residents have to report if they saw vandalism against public infrastructure," he stated.

As reported before, there were 12 broken park benches in pedestrian or sidewalk, because some of the parts were stolen by irresponsible person.

To anticipate similar things happened again, City Parks and Cemeteries Dept. is cooperating with Army/Police to do guards.
